In the afternoon visit Sidi Bou Said, perched village by the Mediterranean sea, stroll by its paved alleys to get an extraordinary sight of Tunis’ gulf. Visit Carthage Archeological site; Byrsa hill, Tophet, Punic ports, Antonin’ s thermal baths.

The drive to the interior, brings us to Kairouan – the first capital of Islam to be established in North Africa. We do a brief walking tour of Kairouan’s picturesque medina & Kasbah, including a visit of the 7th century Great Mosque (the oldest mosque in North Africa) and Mausoleum of Sidi Saheb (companion of the Muslim prophet) with its old Koranic school. Visit Aghlabid Basins. After sightseeing, drive to Tozeur.

Departure in 4x4 for an excursion in Ong Jmal. A road trip in the tracks and dunes of the desert with a visit to the Star Wars filming set.

Departure to Douz through Chott el Jerid, a vast stretch of land extending from Hézoua on the west to Kébili east of it, with a width of 120 Km. Its surface is perfectly flat and covered with salt, and it is crossed by a sole road that links Tozeur with Kébili; the sun shines almost permanently in this region. Salt and sunshine make this space a unique and marvelous place with an almost lunar decoration.

Possible tour on camel back and quad in sand dunes (optional).

After tour, transfer to Matmata and overnight.

Our first stop will be one of the most important archaeological sites in the country, the El Djem amphitheatre, also known as the Tunisian Coliseum. We will walk around its arena while learning more about its history and numerous gladiatorial fights.
